triathlon wetsuit question?

I have competed in about 6 triathlons. i want to be a faster swimmer so i got a full sleeve wetsuit. i am racing on sunday and i am planning on wearing it for the first time in that race. what can i expect? i am not looking to win or anything since i am kinda slow but i have panicked in a big lake swim once without a suit. i know it will slow me down in t1, but mainly i am interested about if i can finish a 1500m swim in it wearing it for the first time.

Don't worry about too much.
Triathlon wetsuits are made for swimming, they are made to make you more buoyant, and they glide better in the water. Also there is no reason to panic in the wetsuit because it will not let you drown.
Providing you got a mid or top of the line suit with the right fit, it might make you a bit faster.
When you put it on, make sure to practice that before before your race as well as taking it off, obviously, for easier way to put it on, use plastic bags. Just slip your foot or arm into plastic bag and then into the sleeve. Then simply pull out the plastic bag.
Make sure you spend a little time on putting your arms in so that it does not constrict your arm movement, otherwise you will get tired just from fighting with the suit. Also use bodyglide, on your body where you think the suit might be rubbing like your neck and arm pits.
Hopefully the water temperature won't be too hot.
